Fun Facts About Me!
- Brazil to Brooklyn (with a Zoom detour!): I grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but met my now-husband in the US. We got engaged in late 2019, and guess what? Our big wedding planned for October 2020 got hit by the pandemic! We ended up with a Zoom ceremony in our tiny Brooklyn apartment, but finally had the dream wedding party in Rio in 2024 – surrounded by loved ones, it was absolutely worth the wait!
- Pandemic Blogger Baby: This blog was born in 2020, during the lockdown. Going through the immigration process, I couldn’t work yet. So, to stay sane and keep a routine, I started this blog! I poured my heart into learning digital marketing and writing in English (my second language). Slowly but surely, people started finding my content valuable, and it became clear this could be my career path. Talk about divine timing – the day I got my work permit, I also got my first paid opportunity!
- From Loathing the Gym to Loving It: My dad, a former Brazilian marine, instilled in me the belief that “your body can do anything; it is your mind you have to convince.” But for years, I hated exercise! After my infamous breakup in 2016, I realized that maybe I hated exercise because I thought of myself as weak and feared the shame of exposing myself to failing. At the time, I was starting this whole personal growth journey and decided to challenge myself with a total shock to the system and experiment with changing my negative self-perception: I enrolled in CrossFit! Waking up at 5 am for those classes was brutal, but slowly, my perception of myself completely changed. I learned to love the feeling of pushing my mind and body and seeing what they could achieve. Today, my workouts are a mix of intense strength training and yoga – gotta quiet your mind to learn when the body needs to rest too, right, Dad?
- Country Music Obsessed: I’m a huge American country music nerd! After reading Shelly Riley’s book “Exponential Living: Stop Spending 100% of Your Time on 10% of Who You Are”, I decided to start a project that had nothing to do with work and challenge myself to explore something totally new. So I started researching, watching documentaries, listening to albums, and learning everything I could about country music. (In the process, Nashville almost became my home base!) This deep dive led to a deep admiration for the genre, its history, and its place in American culture. While I may not be your typical country fan, these songs speak to me in a way I can’t explain. Some of my faves? Johnny Cash, Hailey Whitters, and Zach Bryan.
So, that’s a little about me! Thanks for reading all the way down. If you have any questions, comments, or want to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you! The best way to reach me is at [email protected].
