Feel free to mix and adjust the order of each task in a way that makes the most sense for you and the time you have available (although I highly recommend starting with the hydration part).

Can we agree that mornings set the tone for your entire day? A solid morning routine can boost productivity, improve your mood, and even enhance your self-esteem. When you invest in yourself first thing, you’re basically saying, “Hey, I’m worth it!” And trust me, that’s a powerful message to send to yourself.
On days when I skimp on my morning routine, I often find myself unmotivated, in sweatpants, and binge-watching reality TV by noon on a random Tuesday! Nope, not what I need.

Morning Mindset
Positive Affirmations

Let’s kick things off with some positivity. Starting your day with positive affirmations can help shift your mindset and set the right tone. This is where you remind yourself how amazing you are.
Picking at least one affirmation to start your morning routine on an inspirational note is the perfect way to unlock your glow up! Try saying something like, “I am capable, I am strong, and I am worthy!”

Find a place in your home where you can look at yourself in the mirror, take a deep breath, and have at least 30 seconds to repeat your affirmation a few times, taking every single word in.
On days when I really feel like everything is going wrong, repeating “All things are working together for my good, I am exactly where I need to be” helps me center myself back again.
Gratitude Practice

Gratitude is like a magic potion for your mood.
After your affirmations, grab your favorite journal and take a few minutes to write down three things you’re grateful for. They can be big (like your best friend) or small (like the fresh cup of coffee you just made).

Do your best to go for a glass of water before your morning coffee. I used to think coffee was my morning savior, but I learned that hydration is the real winner.
Nourishing Breakfast

Breakfast is the fuel that powers your morning and gives your body all it needs to thrive. A balanced meal can keep you energized and focused. Think whole grains, healthy fats, and protein.
My go-to? Delicious oatmeal with banana, dark chocolate, and almond butter during colder months. During summer and spring, a thick berry smoothie made with Greek yogurt and the ripest bananas I can find!
Other quick healthy options can be eggs and toast, overnight oats, or yogurt with fruits.
Movement and Energy Boost
Morning Stretch or Exercise

Get your body moving! Whether it’s a quick stretch, yoga, or a full-blown workout, physical activity can release those feel-good endorphins.
I discovered that even a five-minute dance party to my favorite playlist makes a world of difference. Even walking your dog for 10 minutes more can get those endorphins moving!
Mindful Breathing or Meditation

Take a moment to breathe. Mindful breathing or meditation can help center you for the day ahead. Start with just a minute of deep breaths—inhale for four counts, hold for four, and exhale for four (it’s called box breathing, and it does wonders!).
Some mornings, I feel like I need an extra dose of calm, so I’ll meditate to a guided session on YouTube. It’s like a mini-vacation for my mind!
Skincare and Beauty Boost
Refresh Your Skin

But what is a glow up checklist without that magical skincare routine? A good skincare routine can be a game changer in your glow-up journey, especially when talking about a glow up morning checklist.
Start with a gentle cleanser to wash away any remnants of sleep, followed by a hydrating toner.
Next, apply a serum packed with vitamins (like vitamin C) to brighten your complexion and reduce dark spots. Finish off with a good moisturizer and SPF to protect your skin from those harmful rays. Trust me, I learned the hard way that even on cloudy days, sunscreen is non-negotiable!
This quick routine may seem simple, but that’s the secret to success during this glow-up: the easier it is to do, the easier it is to stay consistent. Only consistent, mind-blowing yet sustainable results come!
Of course the brands and products you use will vary from skin to skin, but since you guys always ask what I am currently using, here it goes:
Cleanser
If I have been wearing a lot of makeup or if I feel my skin has been dry, I usually double-clean, starting with the Versed Day cleansing balm. It’s very rich (so please follow with a normal facial cleanser after, or you will get pimples… I’ve been there!) and leaves the skin soft like nothing I’ve ever seen!
It’s made with avocado and jojoba oil and infused with Vitamin E and Eucalyptus oil to calm the skin.
After that, I finished up with the Native moisturizing face wash (I’ve been testing their different scents and haven’t picked a favorite yet! If you are not a scent kind of gal, no worries—they also have you covered!), and that’s done!
Toner
I know it, you love it… Nothing beats the Mario Badescu facial spray! Aloe herbs and rose water work for all skin types and always leave me feeling refreshed. Tried and true!
Serum
I’m loving the Byoma Clarifying Serum! It calms inflammation, reduces oiliness, and decongests pores. I only have to mix six drops with my moisturizer, and it’s done! Byoma also has serums for other concerns, such as hydrating and brightening, so pick whatever is most important to you and go for it!
Moisturizer
For day moisturizer, my forever love is The Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair! Its smell and texture are so luxurious that I feel like a million bucks every time I apply it! The ingredients include Vitamin E, Grapeseed oil, and jojoba—all good things!
Sunscreen
I have been using Supergoop for years and will probably keep doing so for many more! Their unseen sunscreen is weightless, scentless, and oil-free (and it wonderfully works as a primer for makeup!). It melts on the skin, and although I use it every day, one tube lasts me almost three months. It’s my non-negotiable product!
Planning for Success
Review Daily Goals

Now that you’ve pampered your body and mind, it’s time to tackle your goals. Spend a few minutes reviewing what you want to achieve today. Make sure your goals are specific and attainable.
Instead of writing “write for the blog” and “organize the house,” I started breaking it down into “Write one blog post about self-care” and “clean the kitchen’s island.” It was much more manageable, with way less room for frustration and procrastination!
Visualize Your Day

Take a moment to visualize how you want your day to unfold. Imagine yourself overcoming challenges and achieving your goals. The first time I tried this, I pictured myself being super productive with my time and having fun at work. Not only did all of that happen, but I also felt invincible!

This glow up morning checklist isn’t one-size-fits-all. Like I’ve shared before, feel free to adjust it to fit your life. Maybe you have little ones that need extra attention in the morning or a long commute. I recommend starting with one or two items and building from there.
