Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do for your health, and it’s easier than you might think! The secret to entering your “living my best life wellness girlie era” starts with hydration.

Invest in a quality water bottle (I swear by this one, it’s a game-changer!) and aim for eight glasses a day (with my water bottle, it’s more like three bottles daily). If plain water isn’t your thing, try adding a slice of lemon or cucumber for a refreshing twist (or add a little fruit juice for a stronger flavor).
As I delved into the world of hot yoga, I discovered a crucial fact: plain water might not be enough to keep our bodies hydrated. Shocking, right? That’s why my doctor recommended I add one to two electrolyte packets to your water each day. It’s a simple yet effective way to invest in dehydration prevention, especially during intense activities like hot yoga.
Ultima is the brand I currently use (and I love it because, beyond tasting great, it also has zero sugar and zero calories). I recommend buying the variety pack to start; this way, you can find a flavor that fits your fancy. My favorite one is the Raspberry Pomegranate. For me, it feels like enjoying energy drinks but without all the bad stuff.
Drinking enough water throughout the day can tremendously impact your overall health and well-being. It keeps your body functioning properly while also helping it fight infections. It even helps with weight loss and makes you feel more energized and mentally alert.

Instead of obsessing over what you can’t eat, why not incorporate colorful fruits, veggies, lean proteins, and whole grains into your meals? These are safe choices for basically any healthy dietary guidelines, and not only will you be feeding your body with essential nutrients, but you’ll also be able to enjoy a wide variety of delicious and satisfying foods.
Eating a diet that includes a variety of foods that are whole and unprocessed can have numerous benefits for your health:
- Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support the immune system and help protect cells from damage.
- Lean proteins like chicken, fish, and beans provide your body with the building blocks to repair and maintain muscle tissue.
- Whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and oats are a great source of fiber, which can help keep you fuller for longer.

But please know that all the treats you love (chocolate, pasta, pastries, cakes, cookies, deep-fried deliciousness, candy, etc.) are not the villains! They can actually be part of your healthy lifestyle.
The goal is to understand that even if the nutrient density of these foods is not stellar, they are nourishing for the soul. And that’s also super important to incorporate into your overall diet! As someone who used to struggle with restrictive eating, this is one of my favorite healthy lifestyle tips!

Listening to your body and finding what feels good for you is key to maintaining a healthy relationship with food.
One way to do this is by tuning in to your hunger and fullness cues rather than relying on external rules or societal norms. By letting go of external expectations and embracing your body’s natural signals, you can develop a healthier and more intuitive approach to eating that works for you.

Are you someone who dreads the thought of hitting the gym or going for a run? Do you find it hard to motivate yourself to exercise regularly? Well, you’re not alone!
Many people find traditional exercise boring and find it challenging to stick to a workout routine. However, the good news is that exercise doesn’t have to be a chore. You can find a form of movement that brings you joy and keeps you active at the same time.
Discovering an exercise that truly resonates with you is key to making it enjoyable.
For instance, if you love to dance, why not turn up the music and have a dance party in your living room? Or, if you enjoy being in nature, take a leisurely walk in the park or hike a nearby trail. Try a new workout class that piques your interest, like Pilates, yoga, or kickboxing.
Remember, when updating and resignifying your relationship with exercise, the goal is to have fun! Don’t focus on what burns more calories or will look more aesthetically pleasing online, at least for now.
I used to roll my eyes at the people who loved going to the gym. But once I gave it a chance and started to take baby steps towards building my fitness routine, I realized that all that eye-rolling was hiding the fear of feeling inadequate and not good enough around all those good-looking weightlifting folks.
With time and lots of patience, I’ve discovered a deep love for strength training and learned that those people I used to think were so much thought they were better than me do not feel that way at all! Most of them are lovely humans who want the same thing as me: to take care of their health and feel confident in their bodies!
Once I unlocked this fitness-lover side of myself, I started to explore different sports and learned I am pretty good at picking things up quickly (two months into yoga, and I already felt confident enough to take class in the front row??? Who is she??). Wow! Who knew?
So give yourself a chance and find an activity you enjoy! This way, you will be much more likely to stick with it and make it a regular part of your routine. You’ll be surprised at how much easier it is to stay active while having fun!
Plus, you’ll reap the benefits of exercise, such as improved mood, increased energy, prevention of serious health conditions, and better overall health.
Five: Prioritize Sleep

Getting quality sleep is a game-changer for your overall well-being. It’s not just about feeling rested in the morning—it can positively impact your mental and physical health, productivity, and mood throughout the day (and even prevent weight gain if you are intentional about keeping/reaching a healthy weight).
That’s why it’s crucial to establish a good bedtime routine and aim for 7-9 hours of restful slumber every night (that’s like wellness girlie 101).
If you are starting your bedtime routine, there is no need to go nuts. For now, focus on unwinding before sleep. This new routine can include reading a book (here are some of my favorites in case you need some ideas!), taking a warm bath, or practicing relaxation techniques like meditation or deep breathing exercises. Avoid using electronic devices or watching TV before bed, as this can interfere with your body’s sleep cycle. If it’s not avoidable, use it in moderation.
Once you get into a routine, stick to it as much as possible. Consistency is key to quality sleep.
Making small adjustments to your sleep environment can also help, such as investing in comfortable bedding, keeping your bedroom dark and cool, and minimizing noise and distractions.
Remember, a good night’s sleep can do wonders for your physical and mental well-being (quality sleep can even alleviate anxiety and depression!), so prioritize it in your daily routine. Your body and mind will thank you!
Six: Cultivate Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help reduce stress (apparently, it can be a key component in managing high blood pressure) and bring calm into our busy lives. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and forget to take a moment to breathe and be present.
However, practicing mindfulness for just a few minutes daily can significantly improve your healthy living journey.
There are many ways to practice mindfulness, from meditation and deep breathing exercises to a mindful walk. Focusing on the present moment and being fully aware of our thoughts and feelings can reduce stress and anxiety, improve our mood, and enhance our overall sense of well-being.
So, next time you feel overwhelmed or stressed out, take a moment to pause and practice mindfulness. You may be surprised at how much of a difference it can make in your day-to-day life. Remember, the small things we do each day can have the most significant impact on our health and happiness.
