How to Do a Life Reset: A 7-Day Challenge to Reinvent Yourself

Wondering how to do a life reset? Let me ask you something first… Does this sound familiar?
You wake up, go through the motions, and fall into bed wondering if this is all there is. That quiet, nagging feeling that you’re stuck in a rut—knowing you were meant for more, but not sure how to find it.
If that ended up sounding too familiar, I want you to take a deep breath. I know that feeling way better than I’d like, and I know how overwhelming it can be. And although some of us want to press the hard reset button in our lives when living through something like that, the reality is that the idea of a full “life reset” can feel like a massive project you don’t have the time or energy for.
That’s why I’ve turned the entire process into a simple, manageable, highly effective (and dare I say fun??) 7-Day Life Reset Challenge!
This guide is your permission slip to press pause. Over the next seven days, I’ll walk you through a step-by-step framework to get clear on what you want, declutter what you don’t, and build the momentum you need to start fresh. This isn’t about changing everything overnight; it’s about taking one small, intentional step each day to consciously design a life you’re truly excited to wake up to. A life you love.
Hold my hand, because your 7-day journey to a new beginning starts now.

Your 7-Day Life Reset Challenge: An Overview

Okay, so why a 7-day challenge?
Because the idea of a “life reset” can feel overwhelming, but breaking it down into seven manageable days makes it feel… well, doable! This isn’t about a frantic weekend overhaul that leaves you exhausted. It’s about giving yourself the space to take one small, powerful, and intentional step each day for one week.
By the end, you’ll have built incredible momentum and a clear path forward.
The Reset Challenge at a Glance:
Here is the roadmap for your week. Each day is a self-contained step that builds on the last.
- Day 1: The Life Audit – We’ll get crystal clear on where you are right now (no judgment allowed!).
- Day 2: Declutter Your Mind & Space – We’ll clear out the clutter (both mental and physical) to make space for the new.
- Day 3: Create a Vision for Your Future Self – This is the fun part! We’ll dream up your ideal future and what it truly feels like.
- Day 4: Define Your “Feel-Good” Habits – We’ll identify the small daily actions that will support your new vision.
- Day 5: Plan Your First Action Step – We’ll turn that big vision into a tiny (yet highly effective!), non-scary first step.
- Day 6: Take the First Step – It’s time for action! Yay! We’ll finally build that momentum you’ve been craving in a more concrete way.
- Day 7: Reflect & Celebrate – We’ll honor your progress (maybe even do a little happy dance) and set you up for continued success.
You can follow this plan for seven consecutive days, or you can spread it out over a few weeks to fit your schedule. That’s totally up to you and what is possible right now! There’s no pressure and no perfection required. The only goal is to begin.
Ready? Let’s dive into Day 1!
Day 1: The Life Audit – Getting Honest About Where You Are

Have you ever noticed how the maps on your phone work? To figure out the best route, you first have to pinpoint your current location. A life reset works the exact same way. Before we can build your dream future, we need an honest, judgment-free snapshot of your life as it is today.
Basically, we have to figure out exactly where you are right now in life.
To do this, we’re going to use a simple but powerful tool called the “8 Dimensions of Life Audit.”
Your Task for Day 1:
On a piece of paper or in a journal, write down the following eight areas of your life. Then, on a scale of 1-10 (where 1 is “very unsatisfied” and 10 is “thriving”), give yourself a score for each one based on your first gut feeling.
- Career / Work
- Finances & Money
- Health & Wellness (Mind and Body)
- Relationships (Friends & Family)
- Love & Romance
- Fun & Recreation
- Personal Growth & Learning
- Physical Environment (Your Home, etc.)
Going Deeper: Your Life Reset Journaling Prompts
Now, look at your scores. Then take a deep breath, because, although your inner-perfectionist might wanna convince you that all these things need to get fixed right now, you don’t need to fix everything at once! At least not for this life reset to be effective. Just pick the one or two areas with the lowest numbers—this is where we’ll focus first.
For those specific areas, answer the following questions in your journal:
- What do I absolutely love about this area and want to keep?
- What do I not like that much and know needs an adjustment?
- What can’t I stand anymore and needs to be completely gone?
Completing this audit is a huge step! You now have the clarity and focus you need to start building your vision for the future.
If you’d like to explore this process even further, my 21-Day Journaling Plan for Deep Self-Discovery is the perfect companion to this challenge.
Day 2: Declutter Your Mind & Space

Before you can build your new life, you first need to make space for it. Think of it like this: you can’t pour a fresh, hot cup of tea into a cup that’s already full of yesterday’s cold coffee and expect deliciousness (unless you are trying to do a very unique version of dirty matcha, but please allow me my analogy). We need to clear out some of the old stuff to make room for the new.
Our focus for Day 2 of this life reset is to create that space, both internally and externally. We’ll do this with a simple, two-part reset: one for your mind, and one for your physical environment.
Part 1: The “Mind Dump” – Clear Your Mental Clutter
Your mind is likely bursting with endless open tabs: a million to-do lists, worries, random ideas, and unprocessed thoughts. The goal here isn’t to solve anything; it’s simply to get it all out of your head and onto paper, which creates an incredible sense of clarity and calm.
Your Task: Set a timer for 10-15 minutes. On a piece of paper or in a journal, write down absolutely everything that is taking up space in your head. Don’t edit or judge it, just let it flow. You can use these prompts to get started:
- What’s on your to-do list for this week?
- What are you currently worried or anxious about?
- Who do you need to email or call back?
- What creative ideas have been floating around in your mind?
- Is there anything you’re secretly upset or frustrated about?
When the timer goes off, just put the pen down. That’s it. You’ve successfully cleared your mental cache. Go, you!
Part 2: The “One-Space Reset” – Clear Your Physical Clutter
Now, let’s apply that same principle to your environment. The goal is not to declutter your entire house today (resist the urge!)! The goal is to get one quick, satisfying win by resetting a single, high-impact space.
Your Task: Choose one small, contained space that you interact with today, and spend 15-20 minutes resetting it completely. Put things away, wipe it down, and remove anything that doesn’t belong. If you like this approach, keep it up as an extra part of the challenge for the rest of the week (one space per day).
Here are some perfect spaces for your One-Space Reset:
- Your bedside table
- The top of your desk
- Your car’s center console or passenger seat
- The one “junk drawer” in your kitchen
- The chair in your bedroom that’s covered in clothes
By the end of today’s challenge, you will have a clearer mind and a small, tangible “bubble of peace” in your environment. This creates the perfect clean slate for us to start dreaming and building your new vision tomorrow on Day 3 of your life reset.
Day 3: Create a Vision for Your Future Self

Welcome to Day 3 of your life reset! Yesterday, we cleared out the clutter. Today, we get to fill that new, open space with exciting possibilities. This is the fun part—we’re going to start dreaming and creating a tangible vision for the woman you are becoming!
Think of this vision as the North Star for the rest of your journey. It’s the “destination” you’ll plug into your life’s GPS, making it much easier to see the path forward.
Our task today isn’t to create a finished product. It’s simply to gather the raw materials for your vision. We’ll do this in two simple, creative parts.
Part 1: Define Your “Core Desired Feelings”
Before we look for images, we need to get clear on the feelings you’re chasing. The things that really matter.
Your Task: Open your journal and look back at the low-scoring areas from your Day 1 Life Audit. For each of those areas, I want you to brainstorm and write down 3-5 words that describe how you want to feel.
- For example, if your Career score was low, your desired feeling words might be: Creative, Appreciated, Impactful, Financially Free.
- If your Love & Romance score was low, your words might be: Cherished, Seen, Playful, Secure.
These words are your emotional compass. They are the true target you’re aiming for.
Part 2: Go on an “Inspiration Hunt”
Now that you have your feeling words, it’s time to find visuals that match that energy.
Your Task: Set a timer for 30 minutes and go on a hunt for images, quotes, and words that evoke your core desired feelings. You can even grab a cup of your favorite beverage and press play on your favorite “feel-good yet cozy” playlist to make this moment feel even more special (here is mine, if you want to use it)!
No pressure, no overthinking—just pure inspiration gathering.
- If you’re creating a digital board: Create a new secret board on Pinterest. Search for your feeling words (e.g., “playful aesthetic,” “financial freedom motivation,” “cozy creative workspace”) and pin anything that resonates with your soul.
- If you’re creating a physical board: Grab a stack of old magazines, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick. Start flipping through, cutting out anything that makes you feel a spark of excitement.
At the end of Day 3, you’ll have a beautiful collection of feelings and images that represent your future self. This is the tangible vision that will guide and motivate you through the rest of this challenge.
This is just the first step in creating one of the most powerful tools for your personal growth. If you want my complete, in-depth guide on how to design a vision board that truly works (including the visualization technique that was a game-changer for me!), you can find my ultimate guide to vision boards right here.
Day 4: Define Your “Feel-Good” Habits
Welcome to Day 4 of your life reset! You now have a beautiful, inspiring vision for your future self. But a vision is only a dream until you support it with daily action. As that famous quote says:
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” ― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
I know it may sound cliché, but it’s true!

That’s why today, we’re going to define the small, daily “feel-good” habits that will become the foundation for your new life. To do this, we’ll use a simple, holistic framework I call the “Body, Soul, and Spirit Balance.”
Your task for Day 4 is to choose just one small, nurturing habit for each of these three areas.
1. A Habit for Your Body (Your Physical Foundation)
This is about honoring the physical vessel that carries you through life. When your body feels good, you have more energy for everything else. This doesn’t mean you need to start training for a marathon tomorrow! Think small and gentle.
- Examples: A 10-minute stretch right after you wake up, drinking a full glass of water before your morning coffee, or taking a 15-minute walk during your lunch break.
- For a deeper dive: These small actions are the building blocks of a healthier life. If you want a complete guide on this, you can read my post on how to start a healthy lifestyle right here.
2. A Habit for Your Soul (Your Emotional Well-being)
This is about caring for your mind and emotions. It’s about creating moments of peace and clarity in your day. This is often the first thing we sacrifice when we get busy, but it’s the most important for avoiding burnout, especially during a big life transition like this reset.
- Examples: Journaling for 5 minutes before bed, putting your phone away for a full hour before you go to sleep, or reading a chapter of a book just for fun.
- For a deeper dive: A calming night routine is sooo soothing for the soul! Beyond that, is the secret to better sleep and less anxiety. You can find my guide to a Soft Life Night Routine At Home here.
3. A Habit for Your Spirit (Your Deeper Connection)
This is about nurturing the part of you that craves purpose, joy, and connection. It’s about doing things not because you have to, but because they make your spirit feel alive.
- Examples: Spending 5 minutes in meditation or quiet reflection, watering your plants and noticing their growth, or working on a creative hobby for 20 minutes “just because.”
- For a deeper dive: Connecting with your spirit is a core part of self-discovery. If you want more prompts for this, my 21-Day Journaling Plan is the perfect resource.
By the end of today, you will have identified three small, balanced habits. These are not just items on a to-do list; they are daily acts of choosing yourself! This is the essential fuel you’ll need as we move into planning your bigger action steps tomorrow. Can’t wait!
Day 5: Plan Your First Action Step

Welcome to Day 5! This is where the magic really begins. We have a beautiful vision and a foundation of supportive habits, now it’s time to build a bridge to reality!
And let me tell you a little secret I’ve learned: that bridge isn’t built on motivation, which is famously unreliable (seriously, scientists have been discussing this for a long time). It’s built with a clear, simple plan. The most successful people don’t have more willpower; they just have better systems for taking action.
Today, our entire focus is on creating a plan for one, single, non-scary first step. Remember, waking up 20 minutes earlier to work on a new project is realistic; deciding to wake up at 4:30 a.m. overnight might be a recipe for failure. So we are going with the 20-minute version!
Your Task for Day 5 of Your Life Reset:
Today’s task is a simple, two-part process designed to turn your big dream into a tiny, manageable action.
1. Choose Your Focus Area: Look back at your “8 Dimensions of Life Audit” from Day 1. Pick just one of your low-scoring areas that you want to start working on. Is it Career? Finances? Personal Growth? Just choose one for now.
2. Define Your “20-Minute” First Step: Now, for that one area, your goal is to define the absolute smallest, easiest, most non-intimidating baby-first-step you can take. Ask yourself, “What is the 20-minute version of a first step here?”
Here are a few examples:
- If your big goal is to “Start a successful online business”:
- Your 20-minute first step isn’t “build a website.” It’s “Spend 20 minutes brainstorming a list of 10 potential names for my business.”
- If your big goal is to “Write a novel”:
- Your 20-minute first step isn’t “write the first chapter.” It’s “Spend 20 minutes creating a document and writing down 5 ‘what if’ ideas for the plot.”
- If your big goal is to “Get healthier”:
- Your 20-minute first step isn’t “start a diet and workout plan.” It’s “Spend 20 minutes researching one healthy, delicious-looking recipe I can make for lunch this week.”
That’s it. Your only task for today is to write down your one “20-minute” action step. You don’t even have to do it yet! By making the first step ridiculously small, you make it almost impossible to fail.
Tomorrow, we’ll take that step and build some real momentum.
- For a deeper dive: If you love the idea of using systems and tiny habits to achieve your goals, I can’t recommend the book Atomic Habits by James Clear enough. It was a game-changer for me!
Day 6: Take the First Step

Welcome to Day 6 of your life reset! This is the moment of truth. All the self-reflection, planning, and habit-defining has led you to this point. It’s time to cross the bridge from the world of ideas to the world of action, and it all starts with one small step. Just like an airplane using the most fuel during takeoff, taking that first step requires the most energy.
Taking that first step, no matter how small, is often the hardest part. But it’s also the most powerful, because it’s what creates real momentum!
Your task for Day 6 is simple, but transformative: Do the “20-minute” action step you planned yesterday.
That’s it. Just that one thing. To help you do it, you get to choose the approach that works best for you.
Your Secret Sauce for Action: The Right Support
There’s a concept that gained popularity in the online world over these last few years: “move in silence,” keeping your goals private. For some, this works wonders. For others, having a cheerleader is the key to success. Both are valid. The question is, what works for you?
Choose your path for today:
Path 1: The “Move in Silence” Approach – If you’re someone who gets energized by proving things to yourself first, this is your path. Your action today is a private promise. Put on your favorite playlist, set a timer for 20 minutes, and complete your task. This win is just for you. And that’s more than enough.
Path 2: The “Accountability Cheerleader” Approach – If you thrive on support and encouragement, this is your path. Before you start your task, send a quick text to one trusted friend or family member—a true cheerleader who you know will cheer you on.
You can say something as simple as:
“Hey! I’m on Day 6 of a life reset challenge and my task today is to [spend 20 minutes brainstorming business names/insert your task here]. Just telling someone to hold me accountable! Wish me luck! 😊”
Knowing that one person is in your corner can make all the difference.
Whether you did it silently or with a cheerleader, the most important thing is that you did it. You have officially taken action and turned a dream into a reality. That feeling you have right now? That’s momentum!
That’s a huge win, and tomorrow, on our final day, we’ll reflect on this feeling and celebrate the incredible progress you’ve made this week. I am so proud of you!
Day 7: Reflect & Celebrate

Welcome to the final day of your Life Reset Challenge! You did it! You showed up for yourself for seven straight days, and that is a massive accomplishment.
Today is all about honoring the work you’ve done and setting you up for continued success. We’ll do this in two parts: first, we’ll reflect with grace, and second, we’ll celebrate your progress (I promised you a little happy dance, remember?).
Part 1: Reflect with Grace
The journey of personal growth is never a straight line. Some days this week were probably great. Others might have been challenging. Some moments you felt on top of the world, and in others, you may have asked, “Who am I to think I can do this?”
Please know that this is all completely normal. Having bad days doesn’t mean you are a failure; it simply means you are human.
Your Task: Open your journal and spend a few minutes reflecting on your week with these prompts:
- What was the biggest challenge I faced this week, and what did I learn from it?
- What was my biggest win or “aha!” moment?
- How can I offer myself more grace as I continue this journey forward?
Part 2: Celebrate Your Progress
Celebration is not an indulgence; it’s a non-negotiable part of the process! When you attach positive feelings and rewards to meeting your goals, your brain learns that getting things done is great and it will want to do it more!
Your Task: Look at your reflection on the week and choose one win—big or small—to celebrate today. This doesn’t have to be big or expensive; it just has to be an intentional act of honoring your effort.
- Did you finally declutter that junk drawer? Treat yourself to your favorite coffee!
- Did you take that first 20-minute action step? Take yourself for a celebratory mani-pedi!
By consciously celebrating your victories, your subconscious learns to keep you on track and motivated.
This 7-day challenge isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of a new chapter. You now have the clarity, the tools, and the momentum to continue building a life you absolutely love. Congratulations, you successfully completed a life reset! How does it feel?
