Are LED Face Masks Any Good?

LED face masks are such an exciting addition to any skincare routine! But as with anything new, it’s normal to want to understand things a little more before fully committing to it. With that in mind, let’s talk about some of your most burning questions:

What is a red LED face mask, and how does it work?

Simply put, an LED face mask is a skincare device that uses different wavelengths of light to treat various skin concerns. The light goes through the skin at different depths and stimulates cellular processes, such as collagen production and cell turnover (hello, anti-aging!), leading to improved skin texture, tone, and overall appearance.

Are red LED face masks safe for all skin types?

In most cases, LED face masks are safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin. But before starting any new skincare routine, make sure to check the manufacturer’s recommendations and talk with a dermatologist if you have any concerns or specific skin conditions.

How often should I use a red LED face mask, and how long should each session last?

The frequency depends on individual skin type, goals, and the specific LED device being used. Usually, using an LED face mask several times per week for a designated period is recommended for noticeable results. The duration of each session can vary, but a typical session lasts between 10 to 20 minutes. For my experiment with the CurrentBody LED Face Mask, I used it every day with 10-minute sessions.

Can I use skincare products with a red LED face mask?

Yes! The right skincare products can supercharge your results. But before applying anything, make sure that the products are compatible with the device and won’t interfere with its effectiveness. Some people may prefer to apply skincare products before using the mask, while others may apply them after.

Are there any potential side effects of using a red LED face mask?

LED face masks are generally safe to use, but some individuals may experience mild side effects such as redness, dryness, or sensitivity, especially during the initial sessions. These side effects are typically temporary and will go away with continued use. Again, make sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions and talk to a dermatologist if any concerns arise.

What are the different colors of LED light on a face mask for?

LED face masks can emit different colors of light, each targeting specific skin concerns. For example, red light is commonly used for anti-aging benefits and promoting collagen production, while blue light is often used for treating acne and reducing inflammation.

How do I choose the right red LED face mask for my skin concerns?

When choosing an LED face mask, consider your specific skin concerns, such as acne, aging, or hyperpigmentation, and look for a device that offers the appropriate wavelengths of light to address those concerns. It’s also essential to consider factors such as quality, safety, and user reviews.

The whole reason I went with CurrentBody, for example, is because it has been clinically proven to be 31% more effective than any other brands, and I love how flexible their mask is – making sure aaaaaalll of my face is covered, especially the sides that usually are left behind when the masks are rigid. So pick your priorities and find a mask that fits that!

How long does it take to see results from using a red LED face mask?

The timeframe for seeing results from using an LED face mask can vary depending on individual skin concerns and the consistency of use. Some users may notice improvements in skin texture and appearance after just a few sessions, while others may take several weeks to see significant results.

Consistency and patience are key when using LED face masks for skincare benefits. Remember that it is not only about instant results, but long-term benefits like preventing future breakouts, preventing wrinkles, and reducing fine lines.

Starting Your Routine LED Mask CurrentBody

Ok, now that you have your burning questions answered, I’m super excited to share with you my experience using the CurrentBody LED face mask and how I set up my routine, so hopefully, it can give you some clarity and ideas on how to set up your own!

But since a picture is worth a thousand words, let me start by showing some before and after pictures…

I MEAN??! The under-eye is the biggest change to me! And that’s just after around three weeks of daily use for just ten minutes! But I’m getting ahead of myself!

Let’s talk about the steps of my LED mask journey as a beginner and how you can adapt each one to your own needs.

Setting Up Your LED Face Mask Routine

Step One: Get Clear About Your Skin Goals

Have you ever heard the saying, “If you don’t know exactly where you’re going, how will you know when you get there?”

Well, this also applies to your skin goals!

The first step to setting up your LED face mask routine is to get clear about your goals and the skin concerns you want to address.

For me, for example, I wanted three main things:

  1. Deal with this nasty discoloration scar left by a cold sore
  2.  Overall, even out my skin tone
  3.  Soft my fine lines, especially around the eyes

Step Two: Choosing the Right Mask

Now that you have sight of the right glowing skin goals, you are ready to pick your mask! The ones that focus on the things you care about and leave out the ones that are not a priority.

Since dealing with scars and uneven skin tones was on top of my list, CurrentBody was a winner because their mask combines red and near-infra-red light therapy, and that magic combo not only increases collagen production, improves skin tone, and boosts circulation. Yep, winner!

Step Three: Preparing the Skin (& my secret to stay consistent with any routine)

Before we jump into skin preparation, it’s important to remember that it doesn’t matter how amazing the mask is (like CurrentBody, with 95% of users said their skin tone, texture, and firmness were improved – basically a magic wand) if we are not consistent with it we will see no results.

“But Isabelle, how the heck do you stay consistent?”

I am glad you asked! It starts with finding one habit you already do daily, almost on autopilot. Then, associate your mask use with that habit, before or after.

This little hack is called habit stacking, and you can learn more about it by reading one of my all-time favorite books, Atomic Habits, by James Clear.

For me, for example, I always shower before bedtime. This moment was perfect because I was already going to wash my face and pat dry (the only two things you need to do to prepare your skin for mask use) so things would feel effortless.

So, right after my shower every night, I put on my gorgeous mask and went about my usual night routine. Easy peasy!

Step Four: Using the Mask

Ok, now comes the easy part: using the mask. As I said before, you can do an activity around the house or sit back and relax – your choice!

For this specific CurrentBody device, the treatment lasts 10 minutes, and the mask automatically turns off once the time is up.

Step Five: Combining Skincare Products

After my mask did all the hard work, I would use a combination mix of castor, black seed, and rosehip oil with my go-to, The Grown Alchemist face cream.

I wanted to keep things simple and only pick products that would complement everything the LED was already doing.

Step Six: Mask Maintenance

Now, this gorgeous face is good to go. But this routine is only done after giving the mask some love. For the CurrentBody device, you can wipe it clean with a slightly damp towel and store it in the bag with the mask. Done!

For just three weeks, one of the most stunning changes in my skin has been the texture. My whole face feels very smooth, but it’s especially impressive around my chin area!

I also had progress with the discoloration scar, and the overall skin tone is not only more even, but the whole face shows this healthy glow that definitely made me use way less makeup for everyday life.

Current Body LED Face Mask Reviews

This whole experience made me feel so empowered regarding my skin goals! For so long, results like this were only available for a lot of $$$ in places and professionals that were out of reach for most of us.

Knowing that a device like the CurrentBody LED face mask is accessible, easy to use, and has a great lifetime value makes me feel in control of this inside-out glow-up journey! I hope that it does the same for you, my dear.
