“Worthy” By Jamie Kern Lima
One of the things I am absolutely obsessed about how Jamie writes is her ability to make you feel like you are chatting with an old friend over coffee (or wine) as you are cozy up with fluffy blankets and sweats on the couch.
Despite Jamie’s impressive resume, which includes co-founding IT Cosmetics, being the first female CEO of a L’Oréal brand, and a New York Times Bestseller, she remains one of the most relatable and down-to-earth authors I’ve ever read. Her ability to connect with readers on a personal level is truly remarkable.
This is specifically important because of how “Worthy” is structured (and why I think this book is one of the new personal growth books that are going to become a classic in the personal development world).
Drawn by her personal experiences, embarrassing mistakes, incredible wins, and heartbreaking losses, she guides us through a journey of learning the difference between self-confidence and self-worth (because, yes, there is a BIG difference!), deep introspection, and noting what self-doubt has already cost us in life.
From there, she delves into overcoming self-doubt, cultivating unshakable self-worth, and embracing your true self, which can revolutionize your entire life. This self-help book is brimming with practical advice, interactive exercises, and a comprehensive workbook that you can work through as you progress through the chapters.
This book is perfect for you if you are a girl-girl, love to learn through stories, don’t take yourself (or don’t want to) too seriously, and get excited about adding some workbook activities to complement your reading.

“Body Talk” By Katie Sturino
I’ve heard of Body Talk many times over the last few years, but what finally made me grab the book and start reading was having the honor of seeing Katie Sturino at an event live and hearing how fresh her take on body acceptance was and how passionate and genuine she was about the whole thing.
Katie is another powerhouse woman. She is the founder of Megababe (you probably came across MB products on Target!) and a body acceptance advocate. Her online platform has almost 1M followers just on Instagram. Her message is all about empowering women of all sizes to find their confidence and celebrate their style.
But Body Talk goes way deeper than that. Firstly, it is one of the most beautiful self-help books I’ve ever seen. The illustrations are fun (and the writing hilarious, although coming from a place of vulnerability and hard-fought-for lessons), full of color, and will make the reading feel lighter and more engaging. Beyond that, the book also has various pages where she invites us to write, scribble, and make the experience personalized to our story and journey.
Body Talk goes beyond what most “just love yourself” self-help books go. It’s a practical guide to embracing your body, unlearning beauty standards that might be holding you back, focusing on self-love, and ultimately freeing up mental space so you can redirect all that energy spent obsessing about your body toward creating and living your best life, at last!
This book is perfect for you if your relationship with your body has been a specific challenge throughout the years, you are comfortable with some R-rated language, and you love a good laugh and no-nonsense advice.

“Magnetic Mindset” By Gala Darling
How do you even start to explain Gala Darling to someone? Well, you can’t. She is someone who has to be experienced. For more than a decade, I have been experiencing her journey and inspiring life stories through her online content.
Gala is so much more than just an internet personality. She is a woman on a mission to show other women how magnificent they are, melt away feelings of smallness and insecurity, and guide them toward stepping up and grabbing the life they’ve dreamed about with both hands.
Magnetic Mindset is a testament to that mission. Going beyond a self-help book, it is a guide on how to co-create the life of your dreams, becoming the person of your dreams as you do it. Sharing her real-life examples, Gala shows the pathway towards remembering your inner magic, getting into vibrational alignment with your desires, and effortlessly attracting them.
I included MM in this sel-help book list because the book keeps going back to how to become the embodiment of your dreams coming true. Focusing on the importance of doing the inner work, identifying and breaking limiting beliefs holding you back, and investing in your personal growth are the groundwork for everything else.
The book also comes with tons of bonuses, from guided meditations to tapping sessions and exclusive content. When you invest in Gala’s work, you always get way more value than you were expecting—and I love her for that!
This book is perfect for you if you feel comfortable approaching personal development through spirituality (think manifestation, the Universe, energy work…, etc.) lenses.
“What I Know For Sure” By Oprah Winfrey
Oprah needs no introduction. One of the most influential people in the world, her journey is a testament to the power of believing in yourself to create and live the life you want. Over the years, as I’ve learned through her life story, interviews, videos, and self-help books, she has become my from-afar mentor (do you also have someone like that in your life?). But “What I Know For Sure” is like having a life manual from Lady O’s heart.
If you don’t know, “What I Know For Sure” has been a column on Oprah Magazine for over fourteen years, a monthly source of inspiration and revelation. This book is the first time that these gems of wisdom have been collected, revised, and updated to be organized by theme–joy, resilience, connection, gratitude, possibility, awe, clarity, and power.
As I’ve shared before, these essays are a powerful insight into Oprah’s heart and mind. Packed with lessons and practical advice that shape a guide on how to become your best self.
What I Know For Sure is a book to be read at your own pace. Read one or two essays before bed (that’s what I did!) and go to sleep feeling inspired, or sit on your favorite comfy chair with a cup of tea and spend your Sunday afternoon nourishing your mind and soul, getting up feeling like a completely different person (for the better!).
This book is perfect for you if you love a magazine-style read, don’t have a lot of time to devote to daily reading sessions and want something that will focus on self-awareness, getting you to stop and really think and digest the words you just read.

“Killing Comparison” By Nona Jones
Preacher, business executive, author, and entrepreneur Nona Jones’s life story is one of the most inspiring ones I’ve ever encountered. From childhood abuse and unhealthy family life to multiple senior executive roles in global companies, best-selling author, and matriarch of a beautiful family, she exhales the truth that where you started does not determine where you will end up.
Killing Comparison is also one of the most honest self-help books I’ve ever read. When reading it for the first time, I found myself exhilarated as I discovered I wasn’t the only one continuously comparing myself to everybody else, even as I reached my goals. Beyond this newfound feeling of not being alone, the book also provided something I was not expecting: a step-by-step guide to personal freedom in conquering daily comparison.
From determining your true source of self-worth to developing practical ways to deal with comparison, protecting yourself against social media’s emotional traps, and even accomplishing your dreams without comparing yourself to everyone else around you, Nona covers it all.
Although this can be seen as a self-help book, it also has biblically rooted principles illuminating the real root of insecurities and showing you how to set yourself free from any hold they might have on you.
This book is perfect for you if you want a Christian approach to personal development. It deals with never feeling “good enough” and constantly comparing yourself to others.

“Yes Please” By Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler is not only one of my all-time favorite comedians but also the actor behind one of my favorite characters ever (Leslie Knope fans, anyone?) and the author of one of the funniest yet packed with wisdom memoirs I’ve ever read–well, listened to. The audiobook version it’s a whole other experience, with special star guests and exclusive content.
Even though this is not your traditional self-help book, Amy’s book packs a surprising punch when it comes to building self-confidence. Her hilarious anecdotes and acid humor reveal her own struggles with self-doubt and insecurity, showing that you don’t have to wait until you feel ready to take the first step and go after your dreams.
Yes Please celebrate the power of saying “yes” to getting out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and embracing imperfections. By sharing her journey from small improv groups to Hollywood acclaim and ultimate professional success, Amy can inspire you to find your voice, trust your instinct, and change your dreams—all with a big dose of humor and self-acceptance. This book is perfect for you if you are an Amy Poehler fan, love comedy, and are more into non-traditional approaches to self-help books.

“How Am I Doing?” Dr. Corey Yeager
I first heard about Dr. Corey Yeager from Oprah in her “The Life You Want” class, and I had the honor to even direct his questions and get some perspective into my own personal journey to truly answer “How Am I Doing?”. Beyond the feature on Mrs. Winfrey, Dr. Yeager can also be seen at Oprah’s and Prince Harry’s The Me You Can’t See on Apple TV+ and is the therapist for the Detroit Pistons.
I love this self-help book because Dr. Corey makes difficult conversations and deep concepts approachable and comprehensible to anyone. The book is built around forty questions he uses with his clients to help them become aware of their thoughts and emotions and connect with the person they want to be.
How Am I Doing? will cover topics such as building trust with yourself, understanding how past traumas might affect your life today, nourishing positive self-talk, and building mental health strategies to deal with anxiety and increase self-confidence.
I love that each conversation is followed by a short reflection by Dr. Yeager, prompts, and self-care strategies to help you put into practice everything you’ve just read.
This book is perfect for you if you want a more psychology—and therapy-based approach to building self-confidence. It pairs actionable advice with something that can be easily incorporated into your morning or night routine.

“The Maguire Method” By CJ Johnson
I first met CJ when we were both invited to join The Mental Health Coalition Champions Program, which brings together creators with a platform focused on mental health. He is a brilliant, award-winning storyteller, content creator, and media strategist. It’s impossible not to stop and listen when he shares his wisdom. So when he told me that he was currently writing his first book, I couldn’t wait to read it!
Now, The Maguire Method is finally out, and after getting my hands on it, I knew it needed to make this list! The book outlines a four-step process—Questions, Reflections, Actions, and Habits (QRAH)—with a clear and actionable framework that can translate complex ideas into concrete actionable steps. This structure is a wonderful way to feel empowered and in control, to be an active participant in your own growth.
One of the big focuses of CJ’s writing is dismantling self-doubt. By tackling real-life challenges like heartbreak, loss, and social media pressures, the book illuminates the internal obstacles that can compromise confidence.
The stories are relatable and provide tools for confronting fears, developing resilience, and breaking through self-imposed limitations.
This book is perfect for you if you want a no-BS approach and practical strategies for self-improvement.
“Exponential Living” By Sheri Riley
I first came across this book and Mrs. Riley while watching one of Marie Forleo’s videos. Since Marie wholeheartedly vouched for how powerful this book was for her in dealing with toxic overachievement and perfectionism, I decided to grab a copy. And boy, oh boy… Little did I know I had signed up for something way bigger than just a self-help book.
Exponential Living challenges the idea that external success equals happiness. Riley, a former high achiever, shares her perspective on how true confidence comes from integrating all aspects of one’s life, not just one’s career. The book creates a foundation for well-rounded confidence by addressing themes like healthy living, giving back, and inner peace.
Another key point of this book is its core concept: “Live in Your P.O.W.E.R.,” an acronym for Perspective, Ownership, Wisdom, Engagement, and Reward. Consequently, when implementing this framework, you can take control of your narrative and find purpose beyond external validation. All of that is possible by learning how to own your journey, focus on internal rewards, and nourish a deeper and more resilient type of confidence.
As a recovering toxic overachiever/perfectionist, this book was an invaluable tool during the first stages of recovery since it outlined my first steps out of the overworking-burnout cycle.
This book is perfect for you if you are career-focused and constantly dealing with the overworking burnout cycle.

“Girl On Fire” By Cara Alwill
I’ve already shared much of Cara’s work all over the blog, but if you need a refresher, here it goes: Cara Alwill is a powerhouse in the female empowerment movement. Her previous book, Girl Code, became a global phenomenon, and the hype is completely justified. Girl on Fire picks up the torch, equipping women to take charge and blaze their own path.
The book focuses on self-ownership and action. Cara crushes the myth of needing external validation and argues that true confidence comes from trusting your intuition, following your passions, and creating your own opportunities.
One of Girl On Fire’s unique approaches is how it highlights the power of community in the process of confidence building. Specifically, it champions collaboration over competition and lights women up on the importance of rising together to rewrite the rules. This is a must-read if you are ready to feel beyond inspired but get practical guidance on tapping into your inner fire and becoming the architect of your own success.
This book is perfect for women who want to be entrepreneurs and take charge of their careers.
