50+ Gratitude Journal Prompts That Will Change Your Life Forever

If you're looking for ideas on what to write in your gratitude journal, this is for you. Click through for the full list of 50+ daily thankfulness prompts that will help you build a consistent journaling habit and find joy in the little things.

So you’ve decided to start a gratitude journal—that’s amazing! You’ve got a cute notebook, your favorite pen, and you’re ready to start cultivating a more thankful life. You open to a fresh page, and… ok, what now?

I get it, sometimes, the hardest part of journaling is knowing what to write beyond “I’m grateful for my family and my health” (trust me, I’ve been there!). Because while those things are wonderful, the real magic of gratitude journaling happens when you dig a liiittle deeper.

These 50 prompts are designed to do just that! They will guide your reflections, help you discover new things to be thankful for, and turn your journal into a powerful tool for self-discovery. This is a key part of the journey we discussed in our Ultimate Guide to Practicing Gratitude, and these prompts are the perfect way to begin.

Are you ready? Let’s do this!

How to Use These Gratitude Prompts

There are no rules, but here are a few tips to get the most out of this practice:

  • Have your favorite journal in hand (if you are on the hunt for a new one, I’ve got you covered!)
  • Pick one prompt a day. Don’t feel like you need to answer all of them at once.
  • Be specific. Instead of just naming something, describe the feeling it gives you.
  • Date your entries. It’s a beautiful experience to look back and see how you’ve grown.
